The Seattle Seahawks have addressed their backfield instability by adding veteran running back Joe Mixon to their practice squad, according to NFL Network. Mixon, who missed the entire 2025 season due to a leg injury, last played in the 2024 postseason and had a standout year before that, rushing for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns while also contributing as a receiver with 36 catches for 309 yards.
His arrival comes after Notre Dame rookie Jadarian Price was placed on injured reserve, leaving the Seahawks scrambling to fill a void in their rushing attack. With Emmanuel Wilson and George Holani splitting touches in the backfield, Mixon’s experience—including a career-high 1,016 rushing yards in 2024—could provide much-needed stability until Price and Zach Charbonnet recover from their injuries.
Despite the absence of Kenneth Walker, the Seahawks’ rushing game has remained productive, averaging 110.3 yards per game this season, ranking 13th in the NFL. Mixon’s addition, though off the practice squad for now, offers Seattle a proven option to bolster their ground game while the offense continues to adapt under quarterbacks Sam Darnold and Drew Lock.
