Ruthless Canada outclass Scotland in WXV opener

Canada delivered a commanding display in Edinburgh to begin their WXV Series campaign, crossing for ten tries to defeat Scotland 64-26 after leading 31-12 at the interval. Lizzie Gibson and Olivia Apps each collected a pair of tries, while Brittanny Kassil, Julia Omokhuale, Taylor Perry, Justine Pelletier, Gabrielle Senft, and debutant Savannah Bauder contributed one apiece, alongside seven conversions from Claire Gallagher.

Scotland's four tries came courtesy of Evie Gallagher, Shona Campbell, Lana Skeldon, and Rhona Lloyd, supported by three conversions struck by Helen Nelson. Despite Kassil enduring a 20-minute red card following a dangerous hit on Meryl Smith, the Canadian attack barely slowed down against their hosts.

Next Saturday, Scotland will host New Zealand at Hive Stadium, kicking off at 17:10 BST. Earlier that afternoon at 15:00, Canada will meet England at Sandy Park to replay the previous year's World Cup decider.
