Rory McIlroy's chasing his next big goal. In his way? Patrick Reed

The rivalry between Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed has reached a new peak as both golfers compete for the DP World Tour’s season-ending title. McIlroy, who has dominated the rankings with four consecutive wins and seven overall, is just one victory away from tying Colin Montgomerie’s record.

Currently third in the standings, he faces a formidable challenge from Reed, who now leads the race after leaving LIV Golf and joining the DP World Tour. Their paths crossed this week in New Delhi, where both are vying for crucial points in the Race to Dubai, a tournament McIlroy has historically excelled in but now finds himself chasing.

The pair, once on opposing sides in the LIV Golf-PGA Tour conflict, have shown mutual respect this season, with Reed praising McIlroy’s competitive spirit and McIlroy acknowledging Reed’s strong play. Their rivalry spans years, from Ryder Cup clashes to heated exchanges on the course, but this time, the stakes are higher than ever as they both push toward a historic championship finish.
