Golfers often showcase their club affiliations through merchandise, but experts suggest there are unwritten rules about when and how to display them. George Peper, former editor-in-chief of *Golf Magazine* and author of *The Best Logos in Golf*, argues that wearing a non-member club’s logo—especially on a driver head cover—can be seen as poor etiquette, particularly if the course is nearby or less prestigious.
He advises against mixing multiple logos, recommending no more than two from clubs ranked in the top 20 combined, or risk appearing pretentious. Peper also warns that flaunting logos can cross the line from pride to ostentation, tapping into a broader trend where club membership has become a status symbol, particularly since the 1990s.
Meanwhile, professional golfer Tommy Fleetwood has drawn attention for frequently wearing club merchandise at tour events, though his approach remains outside these traditional norms.
