Red Sox trio of Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu, Caleb Durbin take home Gold Gloves

The Boston Red Sox celebrated a major defensive milestone as Ceddanne Rafaela, Wilyer Abreu, and Caleb Durbin were officially named 2026 Gold Glove recipients. This honor marks the first such recognition for Durbin, while Rafaela and Abreu secured their second and third consecutive awards, respectively.

Abreu now sits just five trophies shy of the franchise record for the most Gold Gloves won by a player at his position. Attention now shifts to the upcoming announcement of the American League Platinum Glove on Friday, an award determined by fan voting among the pool of Gold Glove winners.

The selection process for the Gold Glove itself has evolved significantly since 2013, when the inclusion of sabermetricians helped move the voting away from the historical reliance on managerial opinion.
