Jammu and Kashmir dominated the opening day of their Ranji Trophy fixture after bundling out Madhya Pradesh for 196 runs. Fast bowler Rohit Sharma led the bowling attack with five wickets, while his teammate Sunil Kumar chipped in with four dismissals to restrict the opposition.
Madhya Pradesh captain Shubham Sharma offered resistance with a patient knock of 79 runs, sharing crucial partnerships with Chanchal Rathore and Aryan Pandey before the lower order collapsed. In response, Jammu and Kashmir reached three for one by stumps after losing opener Shubham Khajuria to Avesh Khan just before the close of play.
