Rafael Jodar joins Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev on exclusive list after latest Shanghai win

Rafael Jodar has made a significant impact in the 2026 ATP season by reaching the third round of the Shanghai Masters, joining an elite group of players with 400 ATP wins. His victory over Luciano Darderi in straight sets (6-3, 6-4) solidified his place alongside Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev, who have dominated headlines this year.

Meanwhile, Zverev has cemented his status as the first German in tennis history to finish a calendar year as world number one, following a stunning upset over Carlos Alcaraz in Shanghai. The defeat marked a pivotal moment in the season, as Alcaraz’s early exit shifted momentum in Zverev’s favor, ensuring his year-end ranking atop the ATP rankings.

Despite a challenging season, Novak Djokovic remains in contention for the ATP Finals, though his early loss to Hubert Hurkacz at the same tournament has complicated his path. The Shanghai Masters has also seen other standout performances, including Valentin Vacherot’s continued winning streak as he defends his title from last year’s unexpected victory as the 204th-ranked player.
