Divine Savior Holy Angels leading after Day 1 at WIAA state girls golf

October 13, 2026

The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) girls state golf championships kicked off on October 12 at University Ridge in Madison, with Milwaukee-area teams and individual qualifiers vying for team and individual titles. After the first round of 36 holes, Divine Savior Holy Angels (DSHA) emerged as the frontrunner in Division 1 with a total score of 323, leading by eight strokes.

Junior Addison Roesch anchored the team with a 75, while Julia Sortino (76), Zoe Gryniewicz (83), Whitney Kelly (89), and Julia Krueger (90) rounded out the top five scores for DSHA, setting the stage for a potential four-peat championship bid.

In Division 2, Lake Country Lutheran’s Aubrey Molaison shot a 70—five under par—to claim the lead, while Parkview’s Taytum Oswald followed with a 75. Molaison’s performance included birdies on both par-5 holes on the back nine, reinforcing her status as a top contender.

Meanwhile, McKenna Nelson from Beaver Dam led the individual Division 1 standings with a 69, with Reagan Piacsek of Waukesha and Brinley Goninen of DeForest tied for second at 71. The second and final day of competition begins on October 13, with the top teams and players positioning themselves for a historic finish.
