Early forecasting for the 2027 NFL draft relies on weekly updates from ESPN's Football Power Index, which simulates the rest of the 17-game campaign 10,000 times. Instead of relying solely on current win-loss tallies, these predictions factor in overall squad ratings, matchups, and game sites to calculate each franchise's likelihood of landing the top selection, a top-five slot, or a spot inside the top 10.

Several opening-round choices have already shifted hands via blockbuster swaps. The Cleveland Browns acquired the Los Angeles Rams' pick as part of the Myles Garrett deal, while the Dallas Cowboys took ownership of the Green Bay Packers' selection in the Micah Parsons exchange.

Meanwhile, the New York Jets secured two separate first-round assets: the Indianapolis Colts' pick from the Sauce Gardner transaction, alongside the superior option between Dallas's natural choice and Green Bay's original pick via the Quinnen Williams trade.
