Preview: Calgary Flames vs Colorado Avalanche — Oct 9

The NHL’s early-season clash between the Calgary Flames and Colorado Avalanche kicks off Friday, October 9, with a late-night showdown set for 1:00 AM UTC. The Avalanche, riding a dominant 55-16-11 record this season, arrive as heavy favorites, while the Flames—currently at 34-39-9—look to challenge the league’s top side in a high-stakes Western Conference matchup.

The puck drop marks another test for Calgary, who remain in search of consistency against a powerhouse Avalanche squad that has already set the tone for contention. With both teams battling for playoff positioning, the outcome could shift the narrative for either franchise early in the campaign.
