Former world No. 7 golfer Will Zalatoris has announced he will miss the entire 2027 PGA Tour season after revealing plans for a third major back surgery.
The 30-year-old, who has battled persistent spinal injuries since 2023, will undergo spinal fusion surgery in late November in Dallas. Zalatoris, who previously had a microdiscectomy in 2023 and an artificial disc replacement in 2025, expressed relief at finally pursuing a procedure he believes could provide lasting relief.
Despite the setback, he remains determined to return to professional golf, with hopes of competing again in 2028. Zalatoris will make one final appearance of the 2026 season at the Austin Championship in November before surgery, marking another challenging chapter in a career repeatedly disrupted by injuries, including a torn labrum in his right hip this year.
His latest setback follows a brief 2026 comeback that included just four PGA Tour starts before another injury ended his season early.
