Washington Huskies sophomore wide receiver Chris Lawson has quickly become a standout offensive weapon for the struggling program, delivering consistent production since taking over as the team’s primary playmaker. Through four games, Lawson has racked up 26 receptions for 380 yards and two touchdowns, including a career-high 86-yard outing against Iowa, where he also tied for the team lead with eight catches.
His versatility has been a key asset, as coach Jedd Fisch has deployed him across multiple positions—including slot receiver and even defensive back early in the season—before settling on his natural role as a pass-catching threat. Lawson’s breakout performance came after a season marred by injuries, with Fisch praising his ability to make explosive plays, including a critical third-down conversion and a game-sealing fourth-down catch against USC.
With backup Elijah Brown expected to start against Purdue, Lawson’s emergence adds a new dimension to an offense that has been searching for consistency this season, particularly against a Boilermaker defense that has allowed a Big Ten-high average of 243.2 passing yards per game.
