Pens Points: Korczak embracing fresh start with Penguins

October 19, 2026

Defenseman Kaedan Korczak is looking to reset his career after leaving the Vegas Golden Knights, where he never fully cemented a regular spot, and is now embracing a new role with the Pittsburgh Penguins. The move comes as the franchise celebrates a milestone for its longtime core—Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang marked two decades since first playing together in 2006.

The organization also made roster adjustments, recalling Ilya Solovyov from its Wilkes‑Barre/Scranton AHL affiliate while sending Ryan Johnson down to the minors. Prospect Tanner Howe entered his second professional season healthy and eager for an NHL chance.

Elsewhere in the league, the Florida Panthers recorded natural hat tricks in three straight games, with Carter Verhaeghe extending the streak after Brady Tkachuk’s back‑to‑back feats, the Toronto Maple Leafs are reportedly willing to part with a premium asset for a top‑level defenseman, and Connor Hellebuyck’s suspension with the Winnipeg Jets is set to expire on Oct. 23.
