The Pittsburgh Penguins fell 5-3 to the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center on October 13, 2026, despite Sidney Crosby recording his first goal of the season. Crosby found the back of the net in the first period after a turnover forced by Bryan Rust allowed Erik Karlsson to set up a two-on-one chance, which Crosby finished with a shot past Spencer Knight.
Chicago took an early lead just 28 seconds into the game when Teuvo Teravainen scored following a bad bounce and a pass from Declan Carlile. The Blackhawks extended their advantage on the power play when Roman Kantserov scored, and he added a second goal of his own in the second period after exploiting a defensive gap left by Ville Koivunen.
Although the Penguins had two power-play opportunities in the first period, they failed to capitalize, contributing to their deficit as the game progressed.
