Oregon State University has severed all ties with star cornerback Exodus Ayers amid 18 criminal charges stemming from allegations made by his former girlfriend. The charges include felony coercion, assault, strangulation, and multiple counts of harassment and distribution of intimate images, following his arrest in November 2025.
Despite pleading not guilty, Ayers was removed from the football program and the university’s roster last week, with officials citing privacy laws to avoid further details. Oregon State head coach JaMarcus Shephard emphasized that the decision was made by the entire university, not solely by the coaching staff, and confirmed Ayers was not enrolled for the 2025 academic year.
Ayers, who showed promise in 2024 with 21 tackles and two pass breakups, missed the entire 2025 season and will not return to the team as legal proceedings continue separately from the university’s action. The Beavers now prepare for their upcoming game against Washington State without him on the roster.
