Indiana Needed a Miracle to Keep the Game of the Year Against the Buckeyes Alive

Indiana Hoosiers face their toughest test of the season this weekend as they aim to reclaim the dominance that defined their undefeated 2023 campaign. After losing key players—including star quarterback Fernando Mendoza—Indiana enters the matchup against Ohio State Buckeyes as an incomplete but still dangerous team.

The Hoosiers, now led by quarterback Josh Hoover and featuring returning players like Steven Daily and Charlie Becker, must prove they can replicate last year’s physical, high-octane style against a Buckeyes squad still recovering from a costly meltdown in Austin. Ohio State, meanwhile, seeks redemption after a shaky performance against Maryland, where their run game finally clicked but lingering doubts persist.

The stakes are high: a Hoosiers victory would mark their first signature win of the season, while a Buckeyes loss could further complicate their playoff hopes. With no room for errors, this clash in Bloomington is poised to deliver the defining statement of the year’s most anticipated rivalry.
