Outgoing KTM MotoGP rider pushing for major 2027 testing change

Enea Bastianini is advocating for a revision to the 2027 MotoGP testing schedule, arguing that the single day of post-season track time at Valencia is insufficient for riders to adapt to the upcoming 850cc machines and new Pirelli tire supplier. He suggests that established riders should be granted access to the January shakedown at Sepang, a session currently reserved exclusively for rookies and test riders.

Bastianini contends that current regulations unfairly favor competitors transitioning from Moto2 or Superbike categories who have already gained experience with the new equipment. He plans to discuss this proposal with series organizers to ensure all participants have adequate preparation time for the significant technical overhaul.
