Florida State’s already difficult 3–4 start to the season took a major turn for the worse after star running back Ousmane Kromah suffered a season-ending injury in Saturday’s 43–35 double-overtime loss to No. 3 Miami.
Kromah was carted off the field late in the first half, leaving the Seminoles without their top rusher as they fell short in a high-scoring rivalry clash. The loss deepens concerns for head coach Mike Norvell, who faces mounting pressure after another disappointing result against the Hurricanes.
Miami’s defense, led by Darian Mensah, dominated the second half, while FSU’s offense struggled to overcome the injury’s impact and a tough defensive stand. The Seminoles had shown flashes of resilience earlier in the game, but the loss in overtime—marked by a game-sealing interception—solidified Miami’s victory and left Florida State’s season in further doubt.
Kromah’s absence is a critical blow, particularly in the ACC, where the Seminoles are now 1–3. Norvell’s team had hoped to bounce back from earlier struggles, but the injury and the overtime defeat have compounded the challenges.
With Kromah out indefinitely, Florida State’s ground-game production—and Norvell’s job security—hang in the balance as the season progresses.
