Serena Williams’ coach Rennae Stubbs weighed in on the swift dismissal of White House press secretary Katie Zacharia, who was fired by President Donald Trump after just five days in the role. Zacharia faced intense backlash for falsely claiming she was a licensed attorney, despite failing to pass the bar exam.
Stubbs, a vocal critic of the Trump administration, aligned herself with political commentator Sarah Elizabeth Cupp’s criticism of Zacharia’s portrayal as a victim, writing that women shouldn’t be excused for unethical behavior simply because they’re female. She also mocked Zacharia’s effusive farewell statement praising Trump, calling it over-the-top in a social media post that included a laughing emoji.
Beyond politics, Stubbs took to her platform to condemn the U.S. medical insurance industry, calling its lack of coverage for basic procedures—despite high premiums—a ‘travesty’ and questioning how lower-income individuals manage the costs.
The Australian-based coach, who resides in the U.S., has repeatedly used her influence to critique both the Trump administration and systemic issues affecting Americans.
