Leg-spinner Rahul Chahar has been signed as a guest player by Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the 2026-27 Ranji Trophy season, marking the team’s latest strategic move to bolster their bowling attack. Chahar, who has represented India in one ODI and six T20Is between 2019 and 2021, brings extensive experience from franchise cricket, having played for Mumbai Indians, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
His recent stint with Surrey in county cricket further adds to his credentials. The defending Ranji Trophy champions, who won their first title in 2025-26, identified a need for a specialist leg-spinner after Tamil Nadu’s Murugan Ashwin—previously signed under the guest player system—focused solely on white-ball formats.
Chahar’s anticipated debut against Baroda in J&K’s third fixture of the season will provide the team with a seasoned wrist-spin option early in their title defense campaign.
