
The second-ranked Georgia Bulldogs cruised to a dominant 41-13 victory over the Oklahoma Sooners in their Southeastern Conference opener on Saturday. Oklahoma quarterback John Mateer accumulated 231 yards through the air and two touchdowns, but his performance was severely undermined by one interception and two lost fumbles that helped bury the Sooners in a 28-0 halftime deficit.
Georgia signal-caller Gunner Stockton managed the contest efficiently by completing his initial nine pass attempts, highlighted by a 35-yard touchdown strike to Talyn Taylor, and finished with 171 passing yards and a score.
Despite showing signs of life after intermission with scoring throws to Rocky Beers and Manny Choice, Oklahoma struggled mightily on the ground, mustering a meager 65 rushing yards on 35 attempts. Georgia capitalized on the visitors' generosity, getting 84 rushing yards from Dwight Phillips Jr.
and a crucial defensive score when CJ Cole returned a strip-sack forced by Raylen Wilson for a 23-yard touchdown before the break. K.J.
Bolden also contributed to the turnover barrage with an interception as the Bulldogs easily coasted to the lopsided decision.
