Finn Allen has no plans of using Mongoose bat despite working with Matthew Hayden at ETPL: 'Need more wood’

New Zealand opener Finn Allen has enjoyed the chance to pick the brains of Matthew Hayden while participating in the inaugural European T20 League. Hayden serves as both head coach and co-owner of Glasgow Cosmic, where Allen has recorded 45 runs across four appearances.

Despite featuring prominent international stars like Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Devon Conway throughout the tournament, Glasgow has struggled to find consistency, sitting fifth in the six-team standings after managing only two victories in 10 contests.

While Allen expressed enthusiasm about learning from Hayden and revisiting European stops in The Hague and Dublin, he ruled out adopting his coach's famed Mongoose bat. Hayden famously introduced the long-handled, short-bladed design during his time with Chennai Super Kings, but the 27-year-old Kiwi made it clear he prefers traditional bats carrying maximum wood to strike the ball.
