India’s T20I series against the West Indies ended in a 2-2 draw after the fifth and final match in Bengaluru was abandoned due to rain. The series was marked by India’s inconsistent bowling, with the West Indies scoring over 200 runs in three of their four innings.
Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar criticized the team’s decision to field eight batters, arguing that this weakened their bowling attack and contributed to their struggles. India’s lineup featured only three specialist bowlers—Mayank Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Prince Yadav—supplemented by all-rounders Nitish Reddy, Axar Patel, and Naman Dhir, totaling six bowling options.
Gavaskar suggested a stronger bowling-focused approach, recommending four specialist bowlers alongside two all-rounders, specifically Axar Patel and Naman Dhir, to bolster depth. He also emphasized that India should avoid chasing a direct replacement for Hardik Pandya, instead focusing on players who can fulfill different roles effectively.
