Indian fast bowler Anshul Kamboj, who made his Test debut in 2025 as an injury replacement for Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh, has earned a second opportunity in the format after a challenging start. His debut in England saw him bowl 18 overs, conceding 89 runs and taking a single wicket as India faced a daunting 669-run target on a flat pitch.
Despite the setback, Kamboj refused to accept defeat, instead focusing on refining his technique and improving his performance through relentless domestic and international practice, including stints with India A and a strong IPL season with Chennai Super Kings.
The 25-year-old’s persistence paid off, as he was recalled to India’s Test squad for the upcoming tour of New Zealand. His coach, Satish Rana, who has mentored Kamboj since childhood, emphasized the bowler’s dedication, noting that while his debut did not go as planned, Kamboj’s subsequent hard work—often spending 8 to 10 hours daily at the ground—has positioned him for another chance to prove himself in the longest format of the game.
