Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce remains on the sidelines as he recovers from a re-injured heel suffered during a Week 2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Though initially projected to miss six to eight weeks, Pierce’s progress has been steady, though NFL insiders suggest he is still at least a few weeks away from returning to action.
His absence has left the Colts’ offense struggling, with quarterback Anthony Richardson’s yards per completion dropping from 8.1 in 2025 to 5.8 this season—the 28th-best mark in the NFL. The team’s attempt to replace Pierce’s deep-threat role with veteran Darius Slayton failed, as he was released without appearing in a game.
Through two contests, Pierce has already recorded five receptions for 72 yards, underscoring his impact as the team’s leading wideout last season. Meanwhile, the Colts have yet to replicate his explosive playmaking, leaving their offense lacking firepower downfield.
