The Alabama Crimson Tide’s recent struggles deepened after a 26-10 loss to Tennessee, marking their second consecutive defeat and dropping them to No. 13 in the AP Top 25 rankings.
The upset in Knoxville followed a previous loss to Georgia, raising concerns about the team’s consistency and playoff aspirations under head coach Kalen DeBoer. Former Alabama coach Nick Saban weighed in on the loss during a Monday appearance at the Monday Morning Quarterback Club, crediting Tennessee’s defensive strength and physical play.
He noted the Volunteers’ shift from explosive offense to a disciplined, run-heavy approach, calling their defense and coordinator Jim Knowles particularly effective. Alabama’s inability to sustain a rushing attack proved costly, as Tennessee’s ground game dominated the contest.
With another loss looming against Texas A&M this week, the Tide’s margin for error has shrunk significantly, adding pressure on DeBoer’s third season with the program.
