Andre Drummond own the first half of his New York Knicks debut, recording 10 points and 11 rebounds in just over 14 minutes. This mark represents the third-fastest double-double for a Knick since the 1996-97 season, and he became the first player since that same year to achieve a first-half double-double in a season opener.
Despite the Knicks losing to the 76ers on their banner-raising night, head coach Mike Brown noted that while the overall team seemed to run out of gas in the second half, Drummond's early energy was impressive. The 33-year-old finished with 12 points, a game-high 14 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and a steal in 24 minutes of play, filling in for Karl-Anthony Towns who had early foul trouble.
This production helps the team's center depth following the loss of Mitchell Robinson.
