Naveen-ul-Haq, the Afghanistan fast bowler whose 2023 IPL altercation with Virat Kohli became one of the season’s most infamous moments, is making his commentary debut for the Afghanistan vs. Bangladesh Test at Zayed Cricket Stadium.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has included him as a special guest analyst for the one-off match, which kicks off October 9 in Abu Dhabi and runs through October 13. Naveen, who stepped away from ODIs after the 2023 World Cup to focus on T20 cricket, will join a panel led by former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja and veteran broadcaster Andrew Leonard, alongside Farveez Maharoof, Ahmad Farhad Fidai, and Mazhar Uddin for regional insights.
The match marks Afghanistan’s return to Test cricket after a two-year gap, following a heavy defeat against India, while Bangladesh enters as a stronger side after winning five of its last seven Tests, including victories over Australia and Pakistan. Afghanistan’s bowling attack, lacking Test experience, will rely on its spinners to navigate the Abu Dhabi conditions, where Bangladesh’s batting depth could prove decisive.
