Mumbai Indians appoints Kieron Pollard as head coach ahead of IPL 2027

Mumbai Indians have appointed Kieron Pollard as their new head coach for the 2027 IPL season. He takes over from Mahela Jayawardene, whose tenure concluded following a difficult 2026 campaign.

The franchise has not secured a title since 2020, marking their longest championship drought in league history. Pollard, a long-time veteran of the organization, previously served as the team's batting coach.

Management opted for this internal promotion to maintain continuity in their strategic approach. Nita M.

Ambani expressed confidence in Pollard's deep understanding of the team culture, while the incoming coach acknowledged the significance of his new responsibilities.
