The College Sports Commission (CSC) is conducting in-depth probes into five to ten Power Four programs, with multiple College Football Playoff hopefuls under scrutiny. Investigations focus on alleged revenue-sharing cap circumvention and violations tied to name, image, and likeness (NIL) agreements, particularly involving third-party arrangements that may allow schools to bypass spending limits.
The CSC has conducted on-campus interviews as part of its examinations, drawing parallels to the NBA’s past scrutiny of salary-cap evasion schemes. While no long-term investigation has concluded, some institutions are advocating for clearer warnings before the transfer portal opens in January.
The CSC’s proposed participation agreement, which could have strengthened oversight, remains unlikely to advance, leaving compliance concerns unresolved for now.
