Legendary wicketkeeper-batter Mahendra Singh Dhoni is evaluating his physical readiness before committing to another Indian Premier League campaign. During a medical event in Bengaluru, the former captain noted that his participation depends on upcoming health assessments, with a final determination expected prior to December.
Dhoni did not participate in the 2026 season due to fitness issues, and he is currently looking for medical guidance to ensure his body can handle the rigors of professional play.
Chennai Super Kings have faced difficulties since Ruturaj Gaikwad assumed the captaincy, finishing at the bottom of the table in 2025 and eighth in 2026. Following the departure of long-time head coach Stephen Fleming, the franchise has brought in Zaheer Khan to lead the team.
Dhoni, who secured five titles for the organization, remains a central figure as the club transitions under new leadership.
