Move Over Texas: New College Football Contender Takes No. 1 Projected Ranking

Following a month of action in the 2026 season, new postseason projections elevate Georgia to the top overall seed, bypassing Texas after the Longhorns previously claimed the number one ranking with a victory over Ohio State. The latest outlook places Ohio State second, Miami third, and Notre Dame fourth, while Texas slips to fifth place in the updated playoff picture.

Further down the projected bracket, Indiana holds the sixth spot, Florida occupies seventh following a decisive win against Ole Miss, and Alabama rounds out the top eight. Several players are drawing attention early on, including quarterbacks Arch Manning for Texas, Darian Mensah for Miami, and Keelon Russell for Alabama.
