Yamaha rider Alex Rins has expressed a bittersweet reaction to the upcoming 2027 MotoGP schedule overhaul. While he welcomes the removal of the Sunday morning warm-up session he long considered unnecessary, he noted the irony of the change occurring just as he departs the series.
The revised weekend structure will introduce a sprint qualifying session on Friday, followed by a two-part qualifying format on Saturday to determine the starting order for the main event. Rins also suggested that the series might eventually adopt a three-stage qualifying system similar to the one currently utilized in Formula 1.
Other riders, including Marc Marquez and Pedro Acosta, have also shared their perspectives on these significant modifications to the race weekend.
