Fabio Quartararo delivered his strongest MotoGP performance since July, securing ninth place in the Indonesian Grand Prix—a result that marked Yamaha’s return to the top ten after a stretch of midfield struggles. Starting from twelfth on the grid, Quartararo steadily climbed positions by matching the pace of the leading Aprilias in the final laps, ultimately finishing just 0.159 seconds behind Fabio di Giannantonio.
The French rider acknowledged the race’s physical demands, noting he pushed hard despite overheating tires and a missed opportunity to overtake di Giannantonio earlier. His ninth-place finish matched his best Sprint result of the season and highlighted Yamaha’s competitive edge, as teammate Alex Rins finished six positions behind in 15th after battling inconsistent engine performance.
With this result, Quartararo closes out five races with Yamaha before transitioning to Honda for the new 850cc era, currently sitting 14th in the championship standings. Team principal Massimo Meregalli praised Quartararo’s consistency, calling his race a testament to Yamaha’s renewed pace at the front of the grid.
