
During the qualifying session at the Japanese Grand Prix, championship leader Jorge Martin secured the top spot on the starting grid. He managed to outperform Marc Marquez by a margin of one-tenth of a second.
Although trailing his factory Aprilia teammates through the early stages of the weekend, Martin accelerated during the second qualifying phase. He established a fresh track benchmark with a lap time of 1m42.371s, earning his third pole position of the current campaign.
