Colorado suffered a decisive 29-7 defeat against the twelfth-ranked Texas Tech squad on Saturday evening, prompting potential changes under center. Head coach Deion Sanders opted to bench former starter Julian Lewis in favor of backup Isaac Wilson for the opening whistle.
Although Wilson engineered an initial scoring drive culminating in a short touchdown pass to Joseph Williams, the offensive momentum collapsed entirely after the intermission. Wilson surrendered three interceptions during the second half, the final miscue occurring when he was trapped near his own goal line and threw directly to defenders for an immediate defensive score.
Williams had also previously thrown an interception during a trick play early in the third quarter. Wilson finished the contest completing 26 of 44 attempts for 292 yards alongside his single touchdown and three picks, while also rushing 17 times for 40 yards before exiting late due to contact.
Freshman Kaneal Sweetwyne ultimately stepped in for the final snap following Wilson's late exit. Sanders now faces another crucial roster evaluation regarding the starting signal-caller position ahead of the program's upcoming fixture against Utah scheduled for October 17 following a scheduled bye week.
