MotoGP Japanese GP: Marquez defeats Moreira for sprint victory

Marc Marquez secured a sprint race win at Motegi on Saturday, successfully narrowing the points deficit separating him from championship leader Jorge Martin. Martin and Enea Bastianini originally finished second and third respectively, but both riders dropped one position due to post-race penalties for running wide beyond track boundaries.

These demotions elevated Moreira to second place, marking the highest finish of his premier-class career. Earlier in the contest, Pedro Acosta of the KTM squad suffered an early exit from the event following a collision initiated by Marc Marquez's sibling, Alex, during the opening lap.
