Following a 107-103 Boston victory over the New York Knicks on Friday, October 23, 2026, Mitchell Robinson shared a video on Instagram mocking a fan who mistakenly believed he still played for New York. Robinson, who signed a three-year, $47.4 million contract to be the starting center for the Celtics, called the individual a fake fan and stupid after the fan suggested the Celtics lost.
Robinson contributed four points, four rebounds, and two assists in 22 minutes of play with a minus-two rating, helping Boston move to 1-1 after an initial loss to the Detroit Pistons.
Robinson, the former longest-tenured player for the Knicks, left New York after helping them win their first championship in 53 years last June. Despite the move to a rival team, Robinson stated he holds no grudge against the Knicks because he felt they never formally offered him a new deal.
He noted that while the York fans might be unhappy, he is enjoying his time in Boston and feels more offensively involved in the current system. During the game, he received a standing ovation from the home crowd after scoring on an alley-oop and blocking Karl-Anthony Towns in the fourth quarter.
He mentioned that his familiarity with the Knicks' plays helped him during the contest, and he shook hands with Miles McBride after the game.
