Arizona rookie signal-caller Carson Beck has climbed to the primary backup spot on the depth chart following a recent team shake-up. Head coach Mike LaFleur revealed that Beck has mastered the offensive playbook and stands fully prepared to take the field if called upon during games.
Former starter Jacoby Brissett has consequently slipped to third string behind the first-year player, making him a prime candidate for a potential trade.
The roster adjustment comes in the wake of Gardner Minshew guiding the squad to a weekend victory over the Cowboys. Beck originally was drafted in the third round earlier this year and previously flashed potential during an impressive preseason showing before dealing with rib and back injuries.
Unless Minshew sparks a prolonged winning streak, the young quarterback appears positioned to see playing time sooner rather than later.
