Honda has identified cooling failures within the energy recovery system as the primary cause for Aston Martin's recurring mechanical struggles during the Mexico Grand Prix. The engine manufacturer admitted that the thin air at the high-altitude circuit created thermal demands that exceeded their initial projections, forcing the team to retire the car across multiple sessions throughout the weekend.
Driver Fernando Alonso noted that while the chassis performance remains strong, the power unit limitations have severely restricted his track time. Honda officials are now analyzing the collected data to refine their cooling strategies and turbo management ahead of a return to the venue in 2027.
