Michael Carrick drops Lisandro Martinez after shambolic Chelsea display

Manager Michael Carrick has removed Lisandro Martinez from the starting XI for the upcoming Champions League match against Roma. This decision follows Martinez's dismissal and a penalty concession during a recent 2-0 league loss to Chelsea, marking a low point in a nine-game winless streak.

Ayden Heaven will replace him in the lineup. Additionally, Kobbie Mainoo has been inserted into the midfield for this fixture, taking the place of Andrey Santos.

Carrick is currently under significant pressure to improve results and secure his position at the club. Previous disciplinary issues involving Martinez and public criticism from Bruno Fernandes have also contributed to a turbulent period for the squad.
