Malaysia earned the top seed in Group B of the upcoming Asian Games 2026 men's cricket tournament after a rain interruption on Saturday, September 26, ended their final group fixture against Oman prematurely. This washout secured Malaysia's advance to the knockout stage alongside Hong Kong, while simultaneously eliminating Oman from the competition.
Malaysia previously established their standing by defeating Hong Kong by eight wickets earlier in the group stage, successfully chasing a small target within eleven overs. Hong Kong secured their own advancement by defeating Oman by 41 runs, while Nepal and Afghanistan claimed the top two spots in Group A respectively.
The quarter-final matchups are scheduled across two dates in late September 2026. On September 28, Hong Kong will play Pakistan and Afghanistan will face India.
The following day, Nepal will meet Sri Lanka, and Malaysia will square off against Bangladesh in the fourth quarter-final. Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka enter this round directly as the highest-seeded teams, bypassing the initial group phase.
