During the third fixture of the home series against the West Indies in New Chandigarh, Indian captain Rohit Sharma became the fastest opening batter to accumulate 10,000 ODI runs, achieving the milestone in 202 innings. By reaching this landmark on October 3, 2026, he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's 22-year-old record of 214 innings.
Just two days prior in the second fixture, Rohit also registered a century to join Tendulkar and Virat Kohli as the only Indian players to cross 12,000 overall runs in one-day internationals.
