Matt Renshaw recorded his first century in one-day international cricket, compiling 109 runs to propel Australia to a competitive total of 294 for eight. Skipper Mitchell Marsh made the unexpected call to take first turn with the bat at Harare Sports Club, a choice that paid off across the full 50 overs of the opening match in this three-game tour.

In response, the host nation was bowled out for 235, giving the visiting side a 59-run triumph. Nathan Ellis proved pivotal with the ball, dismantling the Zimbabwe lineup by collecting five dismissals for 31 runs over the course of 9.1 overs.
