Luka Doncic’s 41-point masterpiece not enough as Lakers fall to Trail Blazers

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered their initial defeat of the 2026-27 campaign on Tuesday evening, falling 136-129 to the Portland Trail Blazers despite a stellar offensive output from Luka Doncic. Doncic contributed 41 points, nine assists, and five rebounds, while teammate Austin Reaves added 26 points and seven assists.

However, defensive vulnerabilities proved costly as Portland shot 59 percent overall and 50 percent from beyond the arc. Portland countered with balanced scoring, led by Deni Avdija, Ja Morant, Damian Lillard, and Jrue Holiday, each eclipsing the 20-point threshold to secure the victory.
