Looking back at three memorable ‘September Heisman’ winners

College football often showcases early-season standouts who dominate September before struggling when conference play begins. Denard Robinson set records for Michigan in 2010 with prolific yardage against UConn and Notre Dame, but his performance dipped significantly during a blowout loss to Michigan State, culminating in an eighth-place Heisman finish.

Geno Smith put together an incredible September for West Virginia in 2012, highlighted by an astonishing performance against Baylor that featured 656 passing yards and eight touchdowns, though the team's momentum stalled later in the season.
