Liver transplant anniversary inspired team talk - Southend boss Dyer

Southend United manager Kieron Dyer revealed that the anniversary of his major liver surgery prompted a deeply moving pre-match address to his squad prior to their dominant six-goal victory over Gateshead. The former England international underwent the life-saving procedure in 2023 following a diagnosis of primary sclerosing cholangitis four years prior.

Dyer shared that he dedicated the impressive away win to his organ donor after directing the pre-game huddle, helping lift the club into second place in the National League standings.
