Bangladesh will kick off Litton Das’s first full‑time ODI captaincy at a three‑team tri‑series in the United Arab Emirates starting on 17 October 2026. The opener sees Bangladesh play Zimbabwe in Abu Dhabi on that day, followed by a clash with Afghanistan on 21 October, with the final scheduled for 23 October.
Das warned that the senior batting line‑up must improve its ability to occupy the crease for full 50‑over innings, after the side fell short of that target in recent ODIs against both Afghanistan and Zimbabwe. He stressed that the squad must learn from those outings but keep a positive mindset as they use the tournament to fine‑tune themselves for the 2027 World Cup and the upcoming Asia Cup.
The captain also highlighted the debut of left‑arm pacer Aliss Al Islam, who earned his first ODI call‑up after a strong domestic season that included 24 wickets in ten matches for Prime Bank Cricket Club, topping the Dhaka Premier Division’s wicket‑taking chart. Al Islam, who previously debuted in T20 internationals against Sri Lanka at the Asian Games, is expected to add depth to Bangladesh’s bowling attack as they seek consistency ahead of the tri‑series.
