LeBron James began his 24th NBA season and his tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers by leading them to a 106-100 win over the New York Knicks. In his debut, the 41-year-old forward recorded 14 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
James admitted to Zora Stephenson that he enjoyed ruining the Knicks' championship ring ceremony.
He also clashed with New York fans who mocked his residence in New York and his use of a helicopter to commute to Philadelphia, provided by Fanatics as part of a collectibles deal. James defended his Ohio roots against claims he was soft, while Spike Lee attempted to mediate the argument.
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver confirmed the helicopter arrangement is acceptable.
