Lamar Jackson out again? Zero completions for Baker Mayfield? Let's make sense of a weird Week 8

The Baltimore Ravens face a difficult path forward after quarterback Lamar Jackson sustained a thumb injury during his opening play against the Buffalo Bills. Jackson, who had been sidelined by an ankle issue, is now slated for surgery and a stint on injured reserve, leaving his availability for the remainder of the season uncertain.

With backup Tyler Huntley also exiting the game due to a toe injury, rookie Joe Fagnano finished the contest in a lopsided 36-10 defeat. Baltimore currently holds a 4-4 record and occupies the bottom spot in the AFC North standings.

The organization is navigating this crisis under the leadership of coach Jesse Minter and general manager Eric DeCosta, following a season marked by aggressive but unsuccessful roster maneuvers.
